ACMA launches Composites Lab site

The American Composites Manufacturers Assn.'s (ACMA) new site provides a basic overview of the materials and processes used in composites fabrication.

The American Composites Manufacturers Assn. (ACMA, Arlington, VA, US) has launched a new website, Composites Lab, designed to help composites neophytes understand the resins, fibers and processes used to fabricate composite parts and structures. 

Broad categories offered by the site include Benefits, Composites vs. Legacy Materials, Applications, Composites 101, Processes and Materials. 

Benefits includes discussion of strength, weight, resistance, design flexibility and durability. Legacy materials discussed include aluminum, wood, steel and granite. Applications are presented in automotive, architecture and infrastructure. Composites 101 includes a review of how composites are defined, their history and an industry overview. Materials covered by the site include resins, reinforcements, additive and fillers, core, and surface finishes.
