3A Composites announced on Sept. 1 the opening of its new manufacturing, conversion and lab facility in High Point, N.C., USA. Following its announcement in September 2010 to relocate its Baltek division from the metropolitan New York area, the new state-of-the-art 115,000-ft2/10,683m2 facility in Guilford County is now open.

The new Baltek facility officially opened its doors in mid-March with the start-up of the balsa product line. With help from the local government agencies and commercial contractors, the factory continued to be outfitted with proven conversion and core material processing equipment, along with the latest in dust collection and safety equipment. The facility continued to take shape as additional equipment was installed and hiring and training of new local plant and office personnel was completed. By the end of July all production lines were operational and the final phases of the transition out of the old facilities in northern New Jersey were complete.

Strategically located just off Interstate 40, and in close proximity to the Greensboro Piedmont Triad International airport, the new building offers easy access to transportation and is within minutes of the Triad communities of High Point, Greensboro and Winston-Salem.
