Carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites are used
as high-strength\, low-weight materials in a wide range of challenging ap
plications including aerospace\, defense and automotive. Unfortunately\,
composite parts can be prone to failure via delamination and\, therefore\
, commercial solutions to improve composite fracture toughness are requir
ed. One such solution being developed involves the use of TFP advanced no
nwovens as `composite enhancing interleaves'. It will be shown in the web
inar that nonwoven interleaves can dramatically improve fracture toughnes
s whilst adding minimum weight to the composite part. A description of ho
w composite manufacturers can best use enhancing interleaves will also be
given.
