ZiPCAD 2.1, from 123-D Software Inc. (Cambridge, Mass., U.S.A.) is a CAD application for Palm OS handhelds, which enables engineers and designers to create and modify detailed CAD drawings in the field, freeing them from their desktop workstations. The software is powerful enough to import and export existing drawings to and from PCs via the DXF file format, when performing a HotSync operation. According to the company, measurements can be entered directly into ZiPCAD, saving hours by eliminating the need to draw existing conditions by hand. It comes with 60 of the most-used CAD features, including infinite undo/redo, symbols, layers, line types, custom colors, entity snapping, shortcut keys, doors, windows, and context-sensitive help. The software will operate on any PALM OS running OS 3.1 or higher.
