Jet Edge Inc. (St. Michael, Minn.) has developed the Jet Edge X-Stream xP90-100 waterjet intensifier pump, which is capable of producing pressures of more than 90,000 psi. The 100-hp machine reportedly provides faster cutting speeds and reduces operating costs compared to traditional 60,000-psi pumps. It also produces 50 percent more pressure than a 60,000-psi intensifier pump, resulting in a 40 to 50 percent increase in productivity for many materials. The pump supports 75,000-psi continuous operating pressure, at which the waterjet system uses 30 percent less water, 30 percent less power, and up to 50 percent less abrasive, compared to a 60,000-psi system, resulting in a 40 percent reduction in operating costs.
