Jet Edge Inc. (St. Michael, Minn.) has introduced the X-Stream XP90-100, a waterjet intensifier pump capable of producing pressures in excess of 90,000 psi/6,000 bar. The pump supports 75,000-psi/5,170-bar continuous operating pressure, which, compared to a 60,000-psi/4,100-bar pump, reportedly uses 30 percent less water, 30 percent less power, and up to 50 percent less abrasive, resulting in an overall 40 percent reduction in operating costs. The flow rate is 1.45 gal/min (5.49 liters/min) through an orifice up to 0.017 inch/0.43 mm in diameter. Fittings and tubing are rated for 100 ksi. Also new from Jet Edge is SigmaNEST Companion CADCAM nesting software. Developed by SigmaTEK Systems LLC (Cincinnati, Ohio), SigmaNEST Companion uses a wizard-based tool to help waterjet operators design, edit and nest parts. The software offers DXF import, TrueShape nesting, automatic path generation and NC code generation. With it, waterjet operators can load DXF files to automatically or manually nest parts.
