Chem-Trend (Maisach, Germany) introduced at JEC Zyvax TakeOff, a water-based, semi-permanent release agent developed for the production of components for the aerospace industry. Chem-Trend says it's particularly well suited for the manufacture of extremely large epoxy components. It is applied by wiping or spraying and offers low transfer of the release agent to the molded part, thereby minimizing any cleaning that might be required prior to post-mold painting and gluing. This saves material, time, and money for manufacturers. Chem-Trend also reports that TakeOff can be applied to molds at varying temperatures, thus reducing the required downtime to allow the mold to cool, as is sometimes needed when using solvent-based release agents. It's compatible with vacuum bag and autoclave molding methods as well.
