The Grieve Corp. (Round Lake, Ill.) has developed No. 996, a jumbo walk-in oven for the batch processing of large composite structures. The gas-fired 350ºF/177ºC oven has a workspace 10 ft wide by 32 ft deep by 8 ft high (3m by 9.8m by 2.4m). Its heating unit features a 1.2 million BTU/hr gas burner and generates 49,000 ft³/min (1.387 million liters/min) of air volume from two 20-hp recirculating blowers, providing combination airflow to the workloads. Its forced exhauster provides quick purge and cool down, and motorized dampers on the intake and exhaust to accelerate cooling. The oven also features 4-inch/102-mm insulated walls, a removable, top-mounted heat chamber and an aluminized steel interior and exterior surfaces.
