Graphic Parts International Inc. (Chicago, Ill.) new line of Stay-Flat vacuum tables for manufacturing systems that require fixture of material on a flat surface are said to provide a nonwarping, nonoxidizing flatbed for composite layup, rapid prototyping, CNC routing and other applications. Available with cutouts, inserts, disappearing registration guides, lift pins and more, the tables are available in many configurations, in sizes up to 10 ft by 25 ft (3m by 7.6m). Bed surface options include anodized aluminum, stainless steel and, for nonconductive and sensitive materials, phenolic. Hidden-camera wells for critical registration are optional. For added durability, all vacuum tables come standard with extra-thick top and bottom plates. Brushless, maintenance-free vacuum motors are reportedly ultraquiet and emit no sparks. Blowback devices aid with precision removal of components or substrates, using the exact amount of flotation required for successful material handling.
