(Roswell, Ga.) has developed the MTI-Mini universal testing system, designed for a range of tests involving materials with low-force requirements, such as plastics, films and rubber. Each system includes a control/data-acquisition/data-analysis Pentium IV computer. The load frame weighs less than 45 kg/100 lb and its relatively small footprint enables its use in an office environment. The standard model provides 508 mm/20 inches of travel; a model featuring 1,117.6-mm/44-inch travel also is available. The systems can achieve maximum force of 1,000 lb/5 kN and 2,000 lb/10 kN, respectively.
