Tema International Srl (Genoa, Italy) has developed a new unidirectional tape manufacturing system that features tensioning devices designed to ensure that carbon and glass fibers lay parallel and are assembled into the tape without gaps or spaces. The manufacturer says the device can produce not only lightweight fabrics from standard roving, but heavier fabrics as well, in a variety of widths. It also can be used to make unidirectional tapes to be integrated into multiaxial fabrics.
