DolphiTech (Raufoss, Norway) has released a significant hardware upgrade to the DolphiCam Ultrasound Camera and the accompanying DolphiCam Expert software. An improvement of 12 dB in SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) has been achieved, enhancing the capability of detecting and sizing damages in carbon fiber composites. Other new functionalities include a new tablet mode with an improved user interface for use on touch screen devices, multiview support for selecting which views are visible on screen, and a new Drilled Hole inspection tool that makes it easy to size and measure interlaminate defects in drilled holes. The tool includes ROI (region of interest) concepts with increased framerates in combination with imaging methods to aid focusing on drilled hole damages close to laminate front and back surfaces. The DolphiCam Expert software update is freely available to existing DolphiCam customers. Advanced users are offered the optional DolphiCam Research software, adding post-processing, pulse shaping and user-defined filtering to the DolphiCam.
