AOC (Collierville, Tenn., USA) has introduced MoldTru LPT-68000, a low-profile tooling resin designed to reduce the cost and time to make Class A surface composite tools by up to 70 percent. The new resin is designed to make tools for open molding, resin transfer molding and resin infusion. AOC says the resin’s chemistry produces very low exotherm, which means up to five layers of tooling laminate can be built simultaneously without causing surface distortion. A special additive technology reportedly gives the resin near-zero shrink. For some applications, vacuum can be used to produce high glass content tooling with technical fabrics.
