Norplex-Micarta (Postville, Iowa) has made available its NP193M high-performance thermoset woven aramid fiberglass fabric combined with a proprietary phenolic compound, which contains a proprietary additive that works as a lubricant, reducing friction and, thus, operating temperature by 10°C/50°F, says the company. The material reportedly is dimensionally stable in compressor vane applications, preventing the pump blades from warping, which can lead to pump malfunction and disruption of the vacuum seal. It has an ambient flexural strength of 45,000 psi/310.26 MPa and a hot flexural strength of 33,000 psi/227.53 MPa.
