C.A. Litzler Co. Inc. (Cleveland, OH, US) revealed that it recently introduced a new machine for producing thermoplastic prepregs. Company president Matt Litzler says that he sees a definite trend toward greater use of thermoplastic materials and wanted to develop an easily-customized machine concept that can be adjusted to account for type of thermoplastic resin used, and whether fabric or unidirectional fibers are processed. Thermoplastic prepreg machines can be customized with many available options, including creels, tow spreading, dryers, winders, compaction rolls and more. Both solution and powder styles are available, and machine length varies from 9.2m to 24.6m. Machine speed can be varied as required for degree of processing desired.
