MicroPhase Coatings Inc. (Garner, N.C.) has introduced a new line of thermal barrier coatings: Thermablock 2.3, a two-part silsesquioxane/titanate material, has barrier/insulation properties and can withstand 2000°F/1100°C with no smoke generation. It can be spray-applied at room temperature with reportedly excellent adhesion properties to composites. Thermablock Nano has a harder, more durable finish, suitable for applications that require abrasion resistance and offers insulative properties.
