Visuol Technologies (Saint-Julien-lés-Metz, France) is a new company created by TECHLAB SA to market its ONDULO technology, a measurement technique for determining the surface quality of automotive Class A finishes. The noncontact technology determines the quality of a part's surface appearance based on the principle of deflectometry. The system reportedly is able to identify and characterize the full range of appearance defects, including shape, waviness, roughness and micro-defects, such as pits, dust, etc. The system is said to be fast (it is capable of measuring 1m2/10.6 ft2 of surface in 2 seconds), accurate to micron level and insensitive to environmental disturbances, such as ambient light, dust, vibration and temperature.
