Research Inc.'s (Eden Prairie, Minn.) StripIR series of strip heaters use parabolic reflectors to apply heat to narrow areas when forming plastic or curing adhesive. The lamp unit reportedly reaches 90 percent of operating temperature within three seconds from a cold start, and falls to 10 percent within five seconds of shutdown. Modular construction permits adjustment of lamp configuration and infrared energy level to meet more than one specific heating need.
