VISTAGY Inc. (Waltham, Mass.) has announced the availability of FiberSIM 5.3, the company’s product development and simulation program for composites manufacturing that is often integrated with finite element analysis (FEA) applications. It features a new module that allows quality engineers to use 3-D design data created in FiberSIM to automate quality planning tasks and generate AS/EN/SJAC 9100 forms. Other features include: noncrimp fabric (NCF) material orientation input support, which allows users to enter an ordered series of orientations for the NCF layers and tracks the orientation of the ply; origin stagger capability, which automates the generation of staggered origins for a given set of plies; ply and weight table creation; and support for Elfini analysis for evaluating and simulating composite part performance.
