(Southpointe, Pa.) has released ANSYS 11.0, the newest version of its simulation software suite designed for product development processes. The latest version includes a number of new features in analysis, meshing and optimization, including Variational Technology in the solver, which reduces the overall number of iterations necessary to perform nonlinear static and transient analyses, allowing the user to perform “what if” scenarios faster and more easily. The new version also extends modeling to solid elements, not just hollow elements, as in earlier versions. That “solids” support also extends to ANSYS’s integration of the suite with VISTAGY Inc.’s
(Waltham, Mass.) FiberSIM draping software. Other ANSYS 11.0 enhancements include new failure criteria for shells and solids, including improvements to delamination modeling capabilities and the capability to arrive at faster initial solutions. The new VT Accelerator makes re-solves 3x to 10x faster for parameter changes, allowing for effective simulation-driven parametric studies.
