Chem-Trend (Howell, Mich.) has introduced Chemlease CPR, a new semipermanent mold release system developed for applications where prerelease is a concern. The manufacturer says the release has been developed for applications involving very large composite parts, the initial surface coats of which, during the molding process, are prone to pull away from the mold surface before the molder has had a chance to back the part with glass reinforcement and laminating resin. The release also reportedly does not require longer cure times, yet it provides a high gloss, is easy to apply (no paste wax), exhibits minimal buildup and allows for the use of most standard fine-line tapes.
