ESI Group (Rungis, Cedex, France) has announced the release of its PAM-RTM 2008 resin transfer molding simulation software for manufacturing composites by injection or infusion. New features include multilayer elements for easier modeling of large parts; a prismatic element that requires fewer total degrees of freedom, resulting in reduced CPU time; and a 64-bit processor designed to eliminate traditional processing constraints caused by model size. In addition, new multilayer elements allow the user to simulate the injection of thick parts without having to use standard tetrahedral meshes, also resulting in significant CPU time savings. For complex parts, a new user interface allows quick generation of models through improved visualization and includes new selection tools for groups.
