Rhodia (Lyon, France) announced on May 27 the introduction of a new polyamide high-performance composite material for structural applications. The matrix resin is suitable for use with continuous glass or carbon fibers. Rhodia says it features high fluidity, which helps ensure that the resin fully penetrates and impregnates reinforcing fibers. Available in prepreg fabrics or plates form, the new semi-finished product range reportedly surpasses existing thermoplastic composites in stiffness, strength, aging and recyclability. Anticipated uses for this nylon include applications transportation, construction and industrial markets.
