The Megaforce automatic loading valve from ADMET Inc. (Norwood, Mass., U.S.A.) enables automated testing on previously manually operated, hydraulically actuated materials testing machines that operate to 10,000 psi. It is available for retrofit to systems built by ELE/Solitest, Forney and TestMark Industries load frames. The valve also may be used as an alternative to conventional servo-hydraulic controlled universal testing machines manufactured by Baldwin, Riehle, Tinius Olsen and Instron/SATEC, eliminating the load rate variability associated with manually operated machines. The valve reportedly installs easily on new and existing machines, at a cost starting at $5,000 (USD) and up depending on machine configuration.
