Release Coating 7799 from Huron Technologies Inc. (Leslie, Mich.) is formulated specifically for elastomeric reaction injection molding (RIM) and structural rigid polyurethane foam applications. The company reports that in a recent full-scale production test, the coating minimized release-agent transfer and was found to improve down-line process substrate adhesion in a demanding manufacturing environment. Benefits include a high flash point (142°F/61.1°C), applicability across a range of RIM and polyurethane processes, multiple-release potential, solids output between 25 and 40 g/min (0.88 to 1.41 oz/min), and fast drying.
