PVC structural foam for China's wind energy market

Gurit has introduced the PVCell G-Foam family, a range of new PVC structural foams, developed and produced at Gurit’s subsidiary, China Techno Foam, in Qingdao, China, for use in the manufacture of wind turbine rotor blades for the local Chinese market.

Gurit (Zurich, Switzerland) has introduced the PVCell G-Foam family, a range of new PVC structural foams, developed and produced at Gurit’s subsidiary, China Techno Foam, in Qingdao, China, for use in the manufacture of wind turbine rotor blades for the local Chinese market. The first product in the line, PVCell G60 (60 kg/m3), reportedly has been tested and fully qualified for wind blade manufacture by certification agency Germanischer Lloyd. Additional grades (G45, G80, G100, G130 and G200) have been commercialized and the full product family is now available. Gurit is working on full product accreditation for all grades with both Germanischer Lloyd and Det Norske Veritas, a global provider of services for managing risk.
