Daikin America Inc. (Orangeburg, N.Y.) has developed Web 100-40G, a PTFE-based nonwoven fabric for use in manufacturing composites that must provide an effective flame, smoke and toxicity barrier. When used in construction and molding methods, the fabric helps produce composite parts that easily pass tests using ASTM E162 and E662, as well as BSS 7239. It reportedly has no negative impact on the physical properties of the composite structure itself and is UL94 V-0 rated.
