C.A. Litzler Co. Inc.’s (Cleveland, Ohio) COM-PREG system, a new compact prepreg treater, is designed specifically for short-run production of prepregs and other materials. Benefits of the new treater include the ability to keep proprietary information in-house; produce small volumes of special materials; maintain in-house control over prepreg supply and quality; experiment with new materials and resins; and prototype new products quickly and cost-effectively. It is said to offer advantages over a full-sized treater, including lower capital costs and installation costs, quick product mix changes and the ability to produce lightweight prepreg materials at low tensions.
