NDT Automation (Princeton Junction, N.J.) has released a family of portable "pocket" PC scanning systems for nondestructive testing: The Acoustic-Ultrasonic (AU-PPC) system, used for inspection of fiber-reinforced concrete or other thick composite materials, or the Ultrasonic-based system (UT-PPC). Both models are complete C-Scan systems that can be used as hand-held flaw detectors to produce and display fully encoded B-scans and C-scans. The UT-PPC reportedly is suitable for use wherever manual or automated UT can be applied, but is said to be most effective in smaller areas with geometric constraints, where a C-scan is desired.
