For super-smooth gel coat finishes, Sattex Corporation (White City, Ore., U.S.A.) recommends its "Bricks and Sticks" non-toxic polishing compounds for use with electric buffing equipment, available in six degrees of aggressiveness. Buffing bricks, the most aggressive, are meant to take out 600-800 grit sanding scratches or imperfections. Buffing sticks are designed for finishing, removing minor scratches and/or sanding marks and orange peel, while enhancing gel coat luster. The compound also may be ordered in 50-lb "licks" for stationary placement, allowing the buffer operator to load the buffer with compound while keeping both hands on the equipment.
