RTP Co.’s Sheet and Film Div. (Winona, Minn.) has announced the availability of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) sheet stock in thicknesses that previously were available only in custom-made products. The new stock sheets come in 0.61m by 1.22m (2-ft by 4-ft) configuration and are available in five thicknesses, ranging from 0.5 mm to 3.0 mm (0.020 inch to 0.118 inch). In addition, RTP can produce PEEK sheets comprised of U.S. Food and Drug Admin. (FDA)-compliant ingredients. These properties reportedly make PEEK suitable not only for automotive and aircraft components, industrial pumps, valves and seals, and silicon wafer carriers, but also for products used in the pharmaceutical and food industries. PEEK is a high-strength, high-temperature resin with good mechanical properties and chemical resistance, as well as good wear resistance and dimensional stability.
