PFE Rolls Inc. (Orange, Mass.) has introduced custom-engineered AccuNip nip roller stations for use in a variety of composites applications, such as controlling resin content in carbon fiber fabric or mat used in aerospace applications or creating composite webs. The nip stations also can be used for laminating, thermal bonding, web heating/cooling and web pulling. Available with welded steel, cast-iron or aluminum frames, the nip stations can be designed to handle nip loads up to 25,000 lb (11,340 kg) and can be configured vertically or horizontally and customized with doctor blades, dual-roll gear drives, heating or cooling rollers and adjustable nip pressures and gaps.
