Charles Ross & Son Co. (Hauppauge, N.Y.) has announced the new VersaMix Multi-Shaft Mixer. Pictured is a typical 300-gal/1,135L VersaMix. This mixer design is composed of three independently driven agitators working in tandem. The high-speed disperser draws powders into the liquid batch through a powerful vortex. The rotor/stator carries out a number of tasks depending on the product being mixed – it can break down agglomerates, accelerate homogenization, or prepare fine droplets in an emulsion. Finally, the low-speed anchor promotes bulk flow and uniform batch temperature while scraping the vessel sidewalls and bottom. Optional features include vacuum-capability, clean-in-place spray nozzles, temperature probes, interchangeable jacketed mix vessels, powder induction capability (available on special design rotor/stators), sight/charge ports, control panels and PLC systems. The system is offered in sizes from 1 gal/3.8L to 4,000 gal/15,141L capacity. Trial/rental units are also available.
