American Matrix Corp.'s (Tarpon Springs, Fla.) new Progressive Discreet Molding System (PDMS) line of molding equipment is intended as an alternative to thermoforming of preconsolidated panels, which involves two processing steps. PDMS is designed for rapid, waste-free production of fully consolidated, fiber-reinforced thermoplastic parts from raw materials. The computer-controlled, modified compression molding system permits processing of multiple matched metal molds (for nonidentical parts) through a single machine, with rapid mold changeover. The system also accommodates single-step molding of cored sandwich panels, with cores formed by the company's proprietary process. americanmatrixcorp.gocomp.biz/1
