Mesh abrasive wheels
Rex-Cut Products Inc. has introduced a line of
Type 27 flexible mesh abrasive wheels that come in several grades for
grinding, sanding, and preparing the surfaces of composite wind turbine
blades, fiberglass boat hulls, and related products for coating.
Rex-Cut Products Inc.’s (Fall River, Mass.) new Type 27 flexible-mesh, depressed-center abrasive wheels come in several grades for grinding, sanding, and preparing surfaces for coating on wind turbine blades, fiberglass boat hulls and other composite products. The company’s Sigma Screen Multi-Purpose Discs feature a blend of zirconia-ceramic abrasive grains bonded to a Type 27 wheel and come in coarse, medium, fine and very fine grades. Faster and cooler than solid resin fiber discs when grinding and finishing composites or fiberglass, they reportedly are chatter-free and clog-resistant. The discs measure 4.5 inches in diameter and 0.875 inch thick (114 mm by 22 mm) and come with back-up pads for longer life.
