Mastercam, through its distributor 4D Engineering Ltd. (Cirencester, U.K.) has announced a new special release of its Mastercam software for 5-axis CNC machining tool users, suitable for use in trimming parts with gantry-based systems in situations that do not require the high-end features available with other high-cost systems. The 5-axis functionality is available as a separate application that can be used with the company's currently available Mill Level 1 or 2 3-axis machining software packages. According to the company, the new functionality can give users 5-axis trimming and drilling capabilities for about £8,500, well under the high price demanded for many other full-featured 5-axis systems.
