The Liquid Coatings and Dispersions Div. of Ferro Corp. (Plymouth, Mich., U.S.A.) announces new, low-VOC ULTRA Clear Gelcoat for cultured marble sinks and vanity tops. It contains less than 44 percent HAPs in compliance with reinforced plastics MACT standards. Formulated for greater color stability, the gel coat is reportedly free of yellow or pink undertones and can withstand higher thermal shock cycles than previous clear gel coats. Available in 5-gal pails or 55-gal drums in a range of cure times and viscosities, the gel coat has a 90-day shelf life and is recommended for application to dry film thicknesses ranging from 12 to 20 mils.
