SP-High Modulus (Isle of Wight, U.K.) the marine business of Gurit, has announced the launch of low-density epoxy tooling paste T-Paste 70-2, which will replace the company's T-Paste 70-1. It is designed for the manufacture of patterns in the boatbuilding market and has been formulated for ease of application and to provide a good surface finish when CNC machined. Improvements include 20 percent lower viscosity for easier pumping but with no loss of sag resistance and 20 percent less back pressure and less drag on application. The paste can be applied directly to expanded polystyrene (EPS) and offers low exotherm and shrinkage when applied at thicknesses up to 40 mm/1.6 inches. T-Paste 70-2 can be applied in one operation over large areas, and can be machined after a one-day cure at an ambient temperature of 21°C/70°F.
