ITW Plexus (Danvers, Mass., U.S.A.) has a new, two-part methacrylate adhesive for the structural bonding of large assemblies in boats, trucks, buses, architectural elements and bridge decking/railing. Plexus MA557 bonds composites (thermoplastic and thermoset), requires virtually no surface preparation, bonds to gel coats and offers a working time of about 90 minutes at room temperature. Mixed at 10:1 ratio, it cures to tensile strength of 2,200 to 2,500 psi.
