MasterSil 415, a new one-component silicone elastomer bonding, sealing and coating compound from Master Bond Inc. (Hackensack, N.J.), has transparency sufficient for optical and display applications. According to the company, it cures at ambient temperatures to a flexible, rubbery solid when exposed to atmospheric moisture and has a service temperature range of -185°F to 400°F (-120°C to 204°C). Also new: EP21AOHT, a two-component, thermally conductive epoxy adhesive, sealant and coating that has high temperature resistance and forms good bonds with many plastics, metals, glass and ceramics (5,000 psi/34.47 MPa tensile strength, 2,000 psi/13.79 MPa in shear and more than 20,000 psi/137.90 MPa in compression).
