Virtek Vision International (Tolland, Conn., USA), a business unit of Gerber Technology, has launched the Virtek LPS-7H laser projector, used to guide assembly layup operations. It is designed so that users can replace spent laser modules in as little as five minutes. This maximizes system uptime and eliminates the need to dismantle and ship the projector off-site for laser replacement. As a result, the Virtek LPS-7H substantially lowers the cost of ownership and has a reported 99.9 percent uptime. Following laser replacement, the system automatically recalibrates in seconds and is fully operational. The system also features technology that can project up to two times faster than previous models, with a higher laser refresh rate and minimal laser flickering. A centralized cooling channel provides thermal stability; it is available for short- or long-range use with a manual or autofocus option.
