OSG Tap & Die Inc. (Glendale Heights, Ill.) has developed a new line of EXOCARB high-performance thread mills designed to machine exotic materials like Inconel, titanium and high-nickel-content alloys. Suitable for aerospace, medical and military components, the thread mills feature a special sub-micrograin carbide for hardness and a multilayered TiAlN coating to prolong tool life. A high-helix construction offers good chip control. Using one thread mill, it is possible to produce varying thread diameters of the same pitch, create right or left-hand threads, create internal or external threads, or use the tool for blind or through-hole applications. Standard inch and metric sizes are available and offer most thread types.
