Huron Technologies Inc. (Leslie, Mich.) has developed Release Coating 7444, a water-based mold release, designed for use at mold temperatures of 177°C/350°F and higher. The product facilitates demolding of products made from high-friction materials, particularly in brake and clutch plate manufacturing for automotive, light- and heavy-duty trucks, off-road vehicles, aircraft and industrial applications. According to the manufacturer, the release forms a resilient barrier that protects the mold from penetration by abrasive materials during the molding process, yet release buildup is minimal.
