Applied Chemical Laboratories Inc. (Sunnyvale, Calif.) has developed what it says is an environmentally friendly cleaning solvent for epoxy and polyester resins. ACL-23 EpoxSol is designed to clean and remove cured resins without gumming or drying. Derived from a technology first used to clean microelectronic components, it’s said to be virtually odorless and contains no acetone, MEK or MIBK. It can be used in spray or immersion tank applications and can be applied at temperatures from 23°C/73°F to as high as 80°C/176°F to remove thick, highly crosslinked epoxy or polyester resin coatings and is reportedly noncorrosive and fully compatible with aluminum, aluminum alloys, stainless steel, brass, copper and other metals. The solvent is available in 5-gal pails, 55-gal drums, 330-gal totes and intermediate bulk containers.
