PPG Industries (Pittsburgh, Pa.) has introduced HYBON 2026, a glass roving that reportedly provides tensile strength and fatigue-resistance in epoxy and vinyl ester resins sufficient to enable manufacture of larger wind turbine blades. Manufactured by PPG at five locations — three in the United States; one in Wigan, England, U.K.; and one in Zibo, Shandong Province, China, that is a joint venture of PPG and Sinoma Jinjing Fiber Glass Co. Ltd. — the roving is compatible with a variety of resin systems.
