Advanced Composites Group Ltd. (ACG, Heanor, U.K.), part of the Composites Division of Umeco plc, has launched MTM82S-C, a new fire performance phenolic resin system available as a prepreg and suitable for mass transit, industrial and construction applications. The resin system reportedly offers good mechanical properties in combination with exceptional fire performance, with operating temperature of -55°C to 80°C (-67 to 176°F). Laminates using this resin system exhibit low fire propagation and surface spread of flames and low smoke and toxic gas emission. MTM82S-C is available for use with a range of carbon and glass fiber materials and is suitable for monolithic and sandwich structures.
