Clariant Corp.'s (Sulzbach, Germany) new, non-halogenated flame retardants for glass-fiber reinforced thermoplastics, Exolit OP 1311 (TP) and 1312 (TP), are based on metal phosphinates and have minimal impact on mechanical properties of compounds, in part because a much smaller quantity than most retardants is required to meet commonly applied standards, says the company.
