SIMULIA (Providence, R.I.), formerly ABAQUS Inc. and now a unit of Dassault Systémes (Paris, France), has released version 6.7 of ABAQUS, its finite element analysis (FEA) software suite. The software includes new architecture for high-performance linear dynamics, advanced capabilities for composites simulation and nonlinear materials modeling, a customizable user interface for accelerated model building and results visualization as well as two new interfaces for CAD “associativity.” Reportedly, the new linear dynamics architecture is fully integrated with existing nonlinear capabilities, enabling the sharing of model data. It also provides what the manufacturer says is the industry’s only unified simulation environment for general-purpose structural integrity, powertrain durability, noise and vibration behavior and crashworthiness. The company also reports that new materials capabilities in this version have been designed for complex composites.
