Dassault Systèmes (Paris, France and Providence, R.I.) has announced that its SIMULIA brand has released Abaqus for CATIA V5 Version 2.5 software, enabling users to perform advanced finite element analysis (FEA) in the CATIA V5 environment. Available for the latest 64-bit computing architecture as well as 32-bit systems, the new version is said to provide tighter integration with CATIA V5 through support of CATIA Knowledgeware, publications and sensors. Additionally, the program features ease-of-use enhancements, such as automatic contact detection. Users reportedly can leverage Knowledgeware capabilities to capture design knowledge and reuse it as a best practice to ensure compliance with established standards. The automatic contact detection feature’s wizard-based interface guides users through setup options and automatically detects likely contact pairs, reportedly simplifying modeling and reducing error.
