Noran Engineering (Westminster, Calif.) and SolidWorks (Concord, Mass.) have reached a licensing agreement under which the latter's solid modeling engine will underlie a CAD-neutral Nastran finite element analysis (FEA) product called NEi FEA, which has been created specifically for individual design engineers who require Nastran-based FEA. Features of the package include ease of use and the convenience of a CAD-independent modeler, using SolidWorks' modeling engine with established Nastran FEA solvers, which offer speed, accuracy and industry-tested solutions for structural, thermal and dynamic engineering problems, according to the company.
